Rehabilitation

Improving quality of life for pets

Improving Life & Happiness

Our compassionate pet therapists provide conditioning and rehabilitation for cats and dogs who’s quality of life is affected by age, disease, or injury. We work to develop customized plans that fit you and your pet’s needs to reach a desired goal. Our therapy room features an underwater treadmill, laser therapy, and all the necessary tools to improve your pets stability and core. Depending on your cat or dog’s therapy or rehabilitation needs, we commonly see an improvement within two sessions.

Your Pet’s Therapy Plan

At Marcy Veterinary Clinic we form individualized treatment plans, conditioning levels, and therapy sessions around your pet’s unique needs. We start all of our therapy plans with a thorough physical exam with your veterinarian and pet therapist. During an exam your pet will undergo a variety of important evaluations including a gate analysis, girth measurement, and stance review. Together, we determine the desired result for your pet whether it be increased mobility or a weight goal.

Each therapy session typically lasts between 30 to 45 minutes depending on your cat or dogs needs. All pet parents are welcome to stay during the session, watch from our live feed in the waiting room, or pick up their pet when their session is over.

We stream our therapy sessions live to our waiting room.

Underwater Treadmill Therapy

Water therapy, with the use of our state of the art underwater treadmill, is a highly effective therapy for cats and dogs with orthopedic, neurological and geriatric conditions associated with muscle weakness, arthritis, and more. Our highly trained pet therapist works with your pet on the underwater treadmill to improve a variety of ailments and reach your therapy plan goals.

Help Avoid Surgery

Using water therapy for your pet can help avoid surgeries with muscle and core strength training. A common problem like an ACL tear, tendon injury, or joint issue can be helped with low impact therapy, potentially avoiding surgical repairs.

Weight Loss

For pets that have become a little more robust around the middle, water therapy can assist in weight loss. Generally, pets on a weight loss therapy plan will also have a set diet and at home exercise routine.

Treatment for Cats & Dogs

We take time to condition your pet to water therapy to ensure they are comfortable and at ease. Conditioning for the underwater treadmill with cats or anxious dogs who need water therapy generally takes longer.

Advanced Therapy

Our underwater treadmill has many great features, including jets. If your cat or dog is gaining strength and on a path to recovery, we can create more resistance to challenge your pet to meet their rehabilitation or therapy needs.

Laser Therapy

We are proud to offer Cold Laser Therapy to your pets for rehabilitation and physical therapy. Our noninvasive, low dose therapeutic laser is safe for both cats and dogs. We do not treat pregnant or nursing animals with laser therapy as a precaution. Our laser therapy can be used to manage and treat several types of ailments and injuries.

Reduce Pain & Swelling

Cold laser therapy works by increasing cellular function, increasing absorption of nutrients, and helping to reproduce new cells – speeding up recovery and reducing pain or inflammation from surgery, injury or disease.

Arthritis & Chronic Pain

Using laser therapy can be a major benefit for your aging cat or dog that is suffering from chronic pain such as arthritis. Laser therapy reduces inflammation and increases circulation which can help relieve pain.

Pharmacy Alternative

Some pets may have an allergy to medications or are unable to tolerate certain drugs. Laser therapy can be used as a substitute or in conjunction with drugs for treating chronic pain, neurological or nerve disorders, surgical recovery, and more.

Pain Management

Depending on your pet’s pain management needs, we may combine water therapy and laser therapy to manage your cat or dog’s pain. We will create a custom plan for your pets pain management and schedule their therapy sessions.
